Dear Parents
Sport continues to play a prominent part in the life of the school. Tennis coaching with children in Year 1 began this week and there will be further workshops led by Frances Candy over the next couple of weeks. I shall be starting an after school cricket club next Wednesday for children in the Juniors. A separate letter has been sent home.
National curriculum tests
Starting on Monday, children in Year 6 will be taking their SATs in English, Maths and Science. A timetable has been posted on the school’s website for parents to view. In addition children in Year 2 will be sitting tests in reading, writing and maths, and children in Years 3, 4 & 5 will be taking what are known as optional national curriculum tests in reading, writing andmaths.
Music enrichment day
A group of children in Mr Cook’s class enjoyed a day of musical enrichment at Peasmarsh school last Friday. It gave them a fantastic opportunity to make music with children from other schools and to perform in a concert at the end of the day.
Swimming
We are hoping to start swimming in our pool from Monday May 18th. If you are able to help out please call in at the office and speak to Mrs Bristow. A timetable will be posted in the Parents’ noticeboard from next week.
Cake Sale
Miss Newton’s class will be holding their cake sale next Wednesday afternoon from 3.30pm. Your contributions to this fun fund-raising event would be most appreciated!
Building improvements update
We are hoping to have the buzzer entry system in place during next week. There have been some teething problems with aspects of its installation and look forward to the work being completed. Elsewhere, work has begun to provide children in Miss Palmer’s class with additional teaching space.
And finally...
May I wish everyone a pleasant and relaxing weekend!
