Parent Information Contact (PIC)
We have a vacancy for the above voluntary post. It is run by Children’s
Services at East Sussex County Council, and appropriate training will be provided. The role entails providing information, support and advice for parents and carers about local services, parenting issues and more.If you are a good communicator with plenty of enthusiasm and want a challenge then this rewarding post may be for you. Pop in for a chat if you are interested. Information will also be posted on the website at www.playdenschool.com , located in Essential Information on the left-hand menu, as well as in the Parents Noticeboard.
Data Information
Under the data Protection Act all schools must inform parents and carers that they hold personal data about each pupil. They must also explain how they intend to use the data and provide information about who the data may be forwarded to. To comply with this you will receive today what is called a Privacy Notice explaining all this. A copy will also be posted on our website, filed in Essential Information as well as in the Parents’ Noticeboard.
Please could you return your data information sheets, which were sent home last week, to the office, with any amendments. Thank you for your co-operation.
E-safety
Using the internet is great for young people’s education and development. It opens up exciting new opportunities for learning. Whatever they’re up to - researching a school project, chatting with friends or playing a game- your children are likely to spend even more time surfing the web as they get older.
With this in mind I want to set up a small working party to include staff,
parents, governors and pupils to develop an e-safety policy for the school. If you are interested in being part of this group please could you let me know. One or two parent volunteers should be sufficient.
Homework
You should receive a copy of the school’s Homework policy today.
Letters and Sounds
There will be a meeting specifically aimed at parents with children in Years Reception - 4, which will address how we teach phonics and how you can support your child at home. The meeting will take place on
Tuesday 6th October at 6pm. The meeting should last no longer than an hour.
And finally…
May I wish you all a pleasant and relaxing weekend!
