Football Fun
Tuesday 24 November 2009
On Tuesday the girl's football team represented Rye Cluster at a 6-a-side tournament against schools from the east of East Sussex.
The team won a tournament against other local schools in October, and progressed to play at Bexhill college on their fabulous, floodlit and on the day windswept astroturf. It is a wonderful facility that was a good experience.
In the group stage the girls played 5 games. They won one and lost four, two of which were 1-0 with the other games resulting in 2-0 reversals. Following the completion of the group stage, the girls played in a 5th/6th place play-off. They triumphed thanks to 3 second half goals from Eve Killelay, Chloe Penfold and Eleanor Wheeler.
The girls were a credit to the school in their effort and fair play. The players were Olivia-May Collins, Caroline Jackson, Eve Killelay, Hannah Lane, Maddie Nunn, Chloe Penfold, Jade Ryding, Jodie Ryding and Eleanor Wheeler.
Next up will be the boys away at Winchelsea in the first round of the Small Schools competition.
