Good Companions
Tuesday 24 November 2009
On Tuesday, 24th November, the St Michael's pupils of 2009 welcomed St Michael's pupils of the past.
The "Iden Good Companions" made their annual visit back to the school they had once attended. The children were delighted to be able to entertain the Companions with poems, stories and songs. The group, which numbered 8 for the visit, are residents of the village who are former pupils.
Each class took a turn to show the Good Companions an example of their current work. The life of the silk worm was told by the children in Miss Palmer's class, they showed mobiles they had made in class. Class 4 showed their new Talk for Writing skills, telling a journey story at the heart of the current topic, complete with actions! Two children from Mrs Davies' class demonstrated the instruments that they learn, in extra-curricular lessons with the East Sussex music service, and joined the rest of their class performing a poem. Miss Newton's class, who opened the assembly, sung "5 Currant Buns" with Rowan playing the part of the baker.
Following the entertainment children in Year 6 shared refreshments and a chat with the Companions.
