St Michaels Primary School, Playden, Rye, East Sussex

Class 3 (Years 3 and 4)

We are the MEERCATS!

Mrs Davies is our class teacher for the children in Years 3 and 4. However, she is currently on maternity leave having just given birth to a baby girl. Mrs Pepler is teaching the class until the end of the Autumn term.

Children use the laptops and computers daily to develop skills and support most subjects, including accessing the internet.

Much of the work is planned within cross-curricular topics, which last for approximately 8 weeks each.

Topics for this year are:

Terms 1 & 2 : Jungle Fever

Terms 3 & 4 : Time in the Tower (Tudor monarchs and exploration)

Terms 5 & 6 : Storms and shipwrecks

Our day in Rye

Meercats had a day trip to Rye to find out more about their local community. We learned about public transport, shops, prices, fishing and...crime!

We had an interesting debate with Adam Smith - the town councillor - about the new supermarket proposals.

We are proud to announce that we absolutely exhuasted the children (and staff!).

Many thanks to all the wonderful Rye shopkeepers who talked to us, PCSO Beil Holden and especially to Martin Channons for letting us hide in their shop while it rained.

Bentley Wood Fair

As part of their topic on Jungle Fever children in Class 3 visited Bentley Wood Fair.
