Governors

Mr. Darryl Wall is Chair of the Governors.

At St Michael's the governors are split into three sub committees:

Teaching and Learning: provides strategic direction for the school's teaching and learning activities, acting as a proactive and strategic body for teaching, learning and curricular matters including quality enhancement and the sharing of good practice. It advises the Governing Body on standards and achievement, including statutory requirements and the every child matters agenda.

Tim Roche is a parent governor and Chair of the Teaching and Learning Committee.

Strategic Organisation: ensures that the activities of the Governing Body are co-ordinated, efficient and productive. Duties include planning the work of the Governing Body and its committees and to draft an annual programme of meetings for the full Governing Body and the committees.

Darryl Wall is a parent governor and Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee.

Finance & Pay and Personnel/ Premises, Health & Safety Committee: will act for the Governing Body in all matters relating to the Governors financial responsibilities under the law, and in accordance with local authority practice and requirements. Duties include overseeing the preparation of the annual budget plan and ensure it links to the School Development Plan, as well as the longer-term strategic planning of the school's finances. It also ensures that the school staffing complement supports the aims and ethos as is affordable. Duties include determining staffing levels and management structure, as well as providing support, guidance and accountability for the headteacher on all personnel matters.

David Rhys-Jones is the Chair of the Finance/Pay & Personnel sub committee.

The committee also ensures that the school provides a safe, healthy and sustainable environment for pupils, staff and visitors. Duties include advising the Governing Body on priorities, including health and safety, for the maintainance and development of the school's premises. It also ensures that the local authority's Health & Safety Policy is complemented by the school's Health & Safety Policy, that these procedures are kept up-to-date and that positive arrangements are in place to ensure that all staff and students are aware of and comply with its contents.

Fiona Osborne is a parent governor and Chair of the Premises, Health & Safety sub committee.
